Glaven Farm (Thornage Common) Meadows County Wildlife Site

Highland cattle have now been brought to the site. They arrived on 11th May.

They will remain on the site until end-September early-October.

Several water voles have been seen on east side of Glandford ford this spring - this is now a very good place to see them.
 

June 9th Carl saw an otter swimming underwater, very fast, in the Glaven just below Bayfield Lake.

Several MSc students from the UCL/QMUL MSc in Freshwater and Coastal Sciences are currently undertaking research into river habitats, invertebrate communities, wet meadow plant communities and food webs in the R. Glaven this summer
